Master Sommelier Emily Wines
Emily learned her craft from mentor Rajat Parr, when, in the span of nine short months, she became the Fifth Floor's assistant sommelier. During her time here, the restaurant earned the prestigious Grand Award from Wine Spectator. The Fifth Floor also garnered a nomination for Outstanding Wine Service by the James Beard Foundation. Ms. Wines has since been named Director of Wines for all Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and has put together a wonderful compilation of wines for every palate.
Outstanding Awards & Recognition
In 2008, Emily became one of only 96 people in the United States to earn the Master Sommelier designation. She was also awarded the prestigious Remi Krug Cup for passing all three sections of the certification exam on her first attempt; Emily is one of two women to ever achieve this remarkable feat.
When she's not traveling among Kimpton's many restaurants around the country and educating staff about wine varietals and hosting the eco-friendly Shades of Green training sessions, Emily leads Wines on Wine consumer tasting classes here at Fifth Floor.
